چکیده
This study illustrates and quantifies how overlooking the impact of weather shocks can affect measurement decomposition agricultural total factor productivity (TFP) change. The underlying technology is represented by a flexible input distance function with quasi-fixed inputs estimated Bayesian methods. Using production data for 16 states in Pacific Region, Central Southern Plains United States, we estimate TFP change as direct sum multiple components, including net effect. To assess role weather, conduct comparative analysis based on two distinct sets output variables. A traditional set variables that ignore variations, new “weather-filtered” represent levels would have been chosen under average conditions. From this analysis, derive biases growth from omission shocks. We find accelerated 12 out equivalent 11.4% their group-average growth, but slowed down 6.5% other four (located Northern-most part country). also substantial contribution technical change, scale effects, efficiency allocation effects to (varying magnitude direction across regions) when are excluded model. first present estimates those counterfactual analysis. One major implication our official USDA's measures appear overestimate rate U.S. agriculture stemming market forces, policies, nonweather drivers.

Decomposition of Total Factor Productivity Growth of Pistachio Production in Rafsanjan Region of Iran
The stochastic frontier production model is one of the most used ways to estimate efficiency and productivity. The purpose of this paper was to decompose the sources of total factor productivity (TFP) growth into technological progress, changes in technical efficiency and changes in economies of scale. In this paper, we also used Divisia index in order to estimate production function. A random ...
متن کاملTrends in Total Factor Productivity in Pakistan Agriculture Sector
Total factor productivity (TFP) has emerged as an important source of agriculture growth. However, this area remained neglected by researchers as well as policy makers in Pakistan. The studies which have estimated agriculture TFP growth in Pakistan are very few and they have tended to overstate it by ignoring the variation in capacity utilization, hours worked and improvement in labour producti...

The aim of this paper is to analyze total factor productivity (TFP) growth and its components in Asian countries applying Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) to the time series data of 44 Asian countries from 2000 to 2010. Using Battese and Coelli approach, TFP is divided into technical efficiency change and technical change. TFP decomposition using SFA method for the years 1998 to 2007 indicate...
متن کاملThe Role of Human Capital and R&D in Total Factor Productivity in the Mining Sector
Promoting Total Factor Productivity (TFP) is one of the methods to improve the competitiveness in the mining sector. Even so, it is of great importance to find a practical solution for productivity improvement. In this study, value added was measured by an innovative method based on the Divisia quantity index for seven mineral activities for the period 1994-2016. The results of calculating TFP ...
